The Millipore UFC510096 Amicon Ultra Centrifugal Filter is a single-use, 0.5mL filter that concentrates, purifies, and desalts proteins from dilute and complex sample matrices with up to 30X concentration, and features a vertical membrane design for sample recovery that is typically greater than 90% of dilute starting solution and a processing time of 10 to 30 minutes. The vertical design also minimizes solute polarization and fouling. The filter consists of a filter device and two microcentrifuge collection tubes, one for collecting filtrate and one for recovering the concentrated sample. Its reverse spin capability provides consistent recovery of the concentrated sample. It has an Ultracel-100 regenerated cellulose membrane that minimizes solute loss and has a nominal molecular weight limit (NMWL) cut off of 100 kilodaltons (kDa). It is compatible with centrifuges that have a fixed-angle rotor and wells for 1.5mL tubes. The filter device is copolymer styrene-butadiene and the collection tubes are polypropylene for compatibility with biological fluids and aqueous solutions. Filters are sold in a pack of 96. Centrifugal filters are commonly used in laboratories for protein extraction, protein purification, and sample preparation.
