The JP Korsteel Stainless Steel Jointed Pelham Bit has a single jointed curved mouthpiece designed to reduce the "nutcracker" action and to alleviate pressure on the tongue and bars of the mouth. This pelham design has a short shank that offers a stronger alternative to snaffle bits, and can be used with double or single reins, the first rein acting as a snaffle; the second or bottom rein offering poll pressure and also adding curb pressure, when using with a curb chain. Pelhams are commonly used with rounding's, and a single rein to allow the mouthpiece and the curb to come into action at the same time.
