Benzyl alcohol is an aromatic alcohol that is used in a wide variety of cosmetic products. It occurs naturally in fruit trees and flowering plants. It is also found in essential oils such as Jasmine and Hyacinth. It is commonly used in making perfume due to its fragrance and preservative properties. It is commonly added to cosmetics and personal care products, including baby products, bath products, soaps and detergents, eye makeup, blushers, cleansing products, make up products, as well as hair, nail and skin care products. Benzyl alcohol is also used as a general solvent for inks, waxes, shellacs, paints, lacquers, and epoxy resin coatings.
