Description

Build your own capacitive touch paddle for CW operation, or incorporate a capacitive touch sensitive paddle into a radio with this tiny capacitive touch key circuit. Designed by K6ARK and used in many of his portable radio builds, the board comes pre-assembled with all components soldered in place. Accepts a wide input voltage from 3 V to 18 V with onboard regulator. Very low current consumption. Carefully selected components trigger upon contact with the touch point and provide appropriate sensitivity. Both touch points can be triggered simultaneously for iambic operation. Thin 0.6 mm thick PCB makes this fit in the tightest of places (1.6 mm thick including components). Board Dimensions: 17 mm x 12.5 mm (0.5 x 0.675 in) Instructions for setup: - Connect the "DIT" and "DAH" pads to conductive pads (I often use screws with acorn nuts) insulated from other conductive material like the radio chassis - Supply 3 - 18 V via the "V+" and "GND" pads - Connect the "TIP", "RING", and "SLV" pads to the Tip, Ring, and Sleeve elements of your iambic paddle jack Power up the unit while NOT touching the capacitive touch points and key the paddle by touching the contact points.
