Special Features

  • The module is a low-cost, high-precision I2C real-time clock (RTC) with an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. The integrated crystal oscillator improves the longevity of the device and reduces the number of components on the production line. The DS3231 is available in commercial and industrial temperature ranges and is packaged in a 16-pin 300mil SO package
  • The RTC stores seconds, minutes, hours, day of the week, date, month and year information. For months with less than 31 days, the date at the end of the month is automatically adjusted, including corrections for leap years. The clock can operate in 24-hour format or 12-hour format with /AM/PM indication. Two programmable calendar alarms and a programmable square wave output are provided. Addresses and data are transmitted serially via the I2C bidirectional bus
  • A precision, temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit monitors the VCC state, detects power failures, provides a reset output, and automatically switches to the backup supply when necessary. In addition, the /RST monitor pin can be used as a manual input to generate a µP reset
  • The DS3231 has several other features that extend the range of additional functionality and options available to the system host. A very digital temperature sensor is integrated into the device and is accessible (like the time) through the I2C* interface. The temperature sensor has an accuracy of ±3°C. On-chip control circuitry enables automatic power detection and manages power switching between the primary power source and the backup power source (i.e., a low-voltage battery)
  • Parameter: Working voltage: 3.3--5.5V(Note: please DO NOT USE 5V VCC); Clock accuracy: 0-40℃ range, accuracy 2ppm, annual error about 1 minute; Memory chip: AT24C32 (storage capacity 32K); IIC bus interface, high transmission speed 400KHz (when the working voltage is 5V). The DS3231 module can cascade other IIC devices, 24C32 address can be modified by short-circuiting A0/A1/A2, the default address is 0x57
