The polyester threads, just 5 microns thick, make a tighter weave that does a better job of cleaning the air. When tested against other brands that use Cotton Elements, Sprint Filters consistently remove 93% of 100 Micron particles, while cotton filters average about 76%.
The pleats in the filter are taller and closer together, which provides a much larger surface area for air to pass through. When tested against cotton based filters, Sprint filters pass 25% more air volume.
The larger filtering surface provides a more consistent air flow throughout the bike's rpm range, and provides better air flow even when dirty.
The membrane does not require oiling like cotton and foam filters, so cleaning is quick and easy with an air hose or a can of compressed air. That saves you the additional cost of buying filter oil.
