WEIGHING INSTRUCTIONS
1.Use the appropriate weight formula on this tape to estimate your horse's bodyweight.
2.Measure heart girth and body length as indicated on this tape.
3.Take measurements at the same time of day to monitor weight, ideally in the morning before feeding.
WEIGHT FORMULAS(1)
Adult Horse: (Heart Girth × Heart Girth ×Body Length)÷330=Bodyweight
Yearling: Divide by 301 instead of 330
Weanling: Divide by 280 instead of 330
NOTE: The formulas(1)here will give you a good estimate of your horse's weight. For more precise measurement, use a scale when available.

MEASURING YOUR HORSE
Heart Girth: Measure around the horse's girth by placing tape acrose the highest part of the withers and keeping the tape as close behind the elbows as possible.
Body Length: Use two people to measure from the point of the shoulder, straight back along the horse's side to the point of the buttock or crease as shown.
