This Dixon 1404 series adapter is used for connecting or extending pipes going in the same direction. It has male National Pipe Taper Fuel (NPTF) threads on one end (for connecting to female threaded pipes) and female National Pipe Straight Mechanical (NPSM) threads on the other end for connecting to male threaded pipes. It is made of zinc-plated steel for greater resistance to corrosion. For this fitting, the female NPSM end swivels to prevent hose stress due to twisting and the male NPTF end seals on a 30 degree chamfer. The compact design provides ease of assembly in confined areas. This fitting is suitable for use in medium to high-pressure water, oil, and hydraulic fluid applications.
