Special Features

  • Silicon carbide is more aggressive and cuts faster than aluminum oxide
  • Open web construction resists clogging
  • High abrasive content for continuous cut rate on both soft materials like aluminum, and hard materials like steels and nickel alloys
  • TR discs have threaded central hubs that require two-and-a-half turns and mount to Norton TR or 3M Roloc TR back up pads
  • Used with a molded rubber backing pad (sold separately)

Description

Norton STE-VS Bear-Tex surface blending belts are suitable for multi-purpose use on both hard and soft materials like aluminum and nickel alloys, and in difficult to reach areas due to the conformable design.
This belt features a resin bond. Resin bonds have good moisture resistance, are harder and less flexible than glue bonds, and have good heat resistance and grain retention. Resin bonds are useful for abrasive operations with high operating speeds, impact, and sudden loading, as the resin bond is strong and waterproof. Nylon fiber does not rust and is waterproof. The Speed-Lok quick-change system allows for easy disc mounting and removal to increase productivity by reducing the time required to change discs. This disc is suitable for use with a die grinder. Use with molded-rubber backing pads. Use a hard pad for aggressive cutting, a medium pad for general-purpose applications, or a soft pad for contours and fine finishing work.
Aluminum oxide is a widely used and versatile abrasive material. It is a tough, fracture- and wear-resistant grit that works well with a broad range of materials, from metals to wood. Aluminum oxide is more durable than silicon carbide and often used for material removal and finishing.
Nonwoven abrasives have individual abrasive grains interspersed throughout an open web of nylon fibers. Open web construction produces a cushioned, three-dimensional material that is pliable, long-lasting, and will not rust. The uniform dispersion of abrasive throughout the web provides a supply of new grain as the old grain and fibers wear away during use. The nylon web is waterproof and washable. In nonwoven abrasives, the grit is designated with a letter code, from Extra Coarse (XC) to Microfine (MF).
Norton Abrasives manufactures a wide variety of sanding, grinding, and polishing abrasives, and has been located in the United States since 1885. In 1990, Saint-Gobain purchased Norton, keeping its manufacturing facilities and offices in the same location. Norton/Saint-Gobain has been recognized as a Global 100 Sustainable Company, as well as earning ISO 9000 and 14001 certification for quality and environmental management standards.
