It also will absolutely not start if you overfill the hopper with ice cubes, so there's no easy risk of getting your hands into the blade mouth as it goes. It tends to want to hold some of the melted water inside the machine but the best way to dry it is to flip it 90 degrees forward or dry the machine with a paper towel.
