This monumental mesh basket has a variety of functions for the outdoor cook with a large crowd to please. First and foremost, it strains small particles out of cooking oil to keep the oil clean for future use. Second, by implementing its two hooks, the basket can rest on the rim of a 12-inch bowl or pot and stay in place while a pot of cooked food is poured into it to drain. Third, the basket can be used as a scoop to retrieve food from boiling water or oil, such as French fries, shrimp, and vegetables. Two layers of nickel-plated mesh create a fine straining surface, while two heavier metal wires support the underside of the basket.
The scoop part of the basket is connected with metal supports to a one-inch-thick wooden dowel handle.
