Inspired by jewelry from the Roman Byzantine Empire. The original earrings were made by cutting patterns and openings into the surface of flat sheet gold. They are unique in their use of beaded wire, which accents the cross and crescent shape, and are a sophisticated interpretation of the crescent and peacock earrings popular at the time.
