An ESA is not required to perform any specific tasks for a disability like Service Dogs do.. ESA's are protected by Federal Law: (ACAA) TITLE 49, SEC. 41705 / (FHA) 42 USC 3601 et seq. UNDER THE AIR CARRIER ACCESS ACT (ACAA) TITLE 49, SECTION 41705 OF THE U.S. CODE, ESA'S HAVE THE RIGHT (UNDER CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS) TO FLY WITH ITS HANDLER IN THE CABIN OF AN AIRCRAFT. AIRLINES WILL REQUIRE A ESA LETTER FROM THE HANDLERS DOCTOR. THIS CARD IS FOR SECONDARY ESA IDENTIFICATION PUPOSES ONLY. UNDER THE FAIR HOUSING AMENDMENTS ACT (FHA) 42 USC 3601, et seq. IF THE QUALIFIED APPLICANTS LANDLORD REFUSES THE REQUEST A COMPLAINT CAN BE FILED WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND OR WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. This card when used in conjunction with a letter from your Doctor will help identify your pet as an ESA. The card also clearly states your rights on the back side of the card.
