The head gasket tester kit is a fast, non-destructive, and accurate troubleshooting tool designed for auto repair technicians and DIY enthusiasts. It accurately determines cylinder head gasket leaks by detecting the presence of combustion gases in the cooling system. This easy-to-use tool simply exposes the tester to coolant vapor from the radiator opening. Clear results are obtained within minutes by observing the color change of the test fluid.
Instructions
1. Ensure the engine is completely cool. Remove the radiator cap, start the engine, and idle it to normal operating temperature.
2. Insert the tester into the included plastic tester up to the mark.
3. Insert the open end of the tester into the radiator opening. Firmly squeeze the air bladder on the tester and draw vapor from the radiator opening. Observe the reaction between the liquid in the tester and the vapor.
4. Continue idling the engine, repeatedly squeezing and releasing the air bladder to draw vapor for approximately 1-2 minutes.
5. No color change: No combustion gases detected in the coolant indicate a normal cylinder head gasket. Discoloration: Combustion gases are present in the coolant, indicating a cylinder head gasket leak.
6. After testing, rinse the tester thoroughly with clean water and allow it to air dry before use.
Precautions
1. Operate after the engine has cooled to room temperature to avoid burns!
2. Avoid direct contact of the tester with skin, eyes, or vehicle paint.
3. Before testing, ensure that the engine oil and coolant levels are normal.
4. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
