The Braies Gisbert is a medieval undergarment akin to modern boxer shorts. Its origins and design are uncertain, likely evolving from Germanic breeches and becoming underwear after the rise of chausses. Our version features rough cotton fabric with a 12th-century overlap for authentic draping, and an internal drawstring for attachment to chausses like our Wool Chausses Bernulf. Even without chausses, commoners in contemporary illustrations wore braies.
