How to Replace Four Wheel Drive Actuator 99-15 C-hevy S-ilverado:
Removing the skid plate - R-emove the four 15 mm bolts that are securing the skid plate. Once those are out, r-emove the skid plate.
Un-plugging the actuator - Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry up on the little l-atch and unplug the actuator.
Removing the old actuator - Using a pair of large slip joint pliers, grab the bolt and unscrew counterclockwise. Once you've got it started, it should come right out.
Installing the new actuator - Work in reverse of the installation process. There may be some grease that drips out-make sure you have a Teflon Coating, and that you get it straight in.
When pulling it in, don't pull too tight-you don't want to strip the plastic threads.
Replacing the skid plate - While holding the skid plate up, replace the four 15 mm bolts. Tighten these bolts up to 30 or 35 foot-pounds so they don't go anywhere.
