Description

The Matthews Wall Spreader is a professional, two-piece system designed to turn any standard 2"x4" stud into a solid mounting column. Ideal for filmmakers, photographers, grips, and content creators working in studios, stages, or on location, this classic rigging tool allows you to create temporary vertical or horizontal spans for lights, modifiers, curtains, microphones, or specialty rigging. One end features a padded flat plate welded to a steel lumber receptacle—protecting the wall or ceiling while distributing pressure. The opposite end contains a matching lumber receptacle with a built-in telescoping section to ensure a precise, tight fit. Once locked in place between studs, the spreader becomes a rigid anchoring point for mounting a variety of grip hardware. Important Safety Note: Because lumber may sag under long lengths or added weight, the structure can loosen. Always place spreader plates directly in line with studs to avoid damage to walls or ceilings.
