Special Features

  • Crack Effect: Immediately after completing the casting (before firing), apply sodium silicate from the pottery to the work, use a brush to apply, wait for it to dry, and then reach into the inside of the work to unfold the edges
  • Multiple Effects for Ceramics: Our sodium silicate can prevent agglomeration during slip casting; to create a crack texture on the surface of ceramics; to reduce the viscosity and water usage of pottery and ceramic products
  • Use as a Deflocculant: Our ceramic sodium silicate solution can be used to defloculate (i.e. prevent clay castings from clumping) clay casts. Our sodium silicate solution causes the clay particles to repel each other and remain in suspension
  • How to Use: After completing the preliminary work (before firing), apply sodium metasilicate to the work with a brush, wait for it to dry, and then expand the work with your hands
  • Note: Sodium silicate is water soluble and is made from soda and silicon dioxide. Please note that sodium silicate will be damaged if frozen or shipped in cold weather (such as during winter). If you have any questions, please contact us to answer your questions
